Whilst Arsenal may have secured a draw away at Burnley on Sunday afternoon, one man whose continued presence in the starting line-up should seriously now be in question, is Alexandre Lacazette.
The France international’s blank against the Clarets at the weekend means he has now gone 14 hours and 57 minutes without a goal away from home in the Premier League – an even more damning way to look at that statistic, is that his last strike came against Huddersfield back in February of 2019.
When Arsenal took the decision to retain Eddie Nketiah and not loan him out for the second-half of this campaign, the pressure was well and truly turned on Lacazette to start delivering with immediate effect.

Instead, the striker’s goal-less run in the top-flight has been extended to eight games and counting after the game against Burnley. That, simply put, is not the record of someone deserving of a first-team place at the Emirates.
The time has now come for Mikel Arteta to show a bit of ruthlessness with the £63m-rated star, and drop him from the team for the Gunners’ next few matches. The north London side have scored a measly 32 goals in just 25 games, meaning even 17th-placed Aston Villa have found the back of the net as many times as they have done. And Lacazette’s woeful campaign – he has just five in the competition – has been a key reason behind that.

The Gunners cannot afford to carry any passengers, particularly at the top of the pitch, where they could play the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gabriel Martinelli or even Nketiah through the middle.
Lacazette’s barren run in front of goal should mean Arteta show no mercy to the former Lyon man, and drop him to the bench with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, Arsenal set to explore transfers for this first-team position in the summer.
