According to France Football, via Get French Football News, Liverpool had a€35m (£29.6m) bid for Villarreal attacker Samuel Chukwueze rejected during the January transfer window. The 20-year-old has already made 26 appearances for the Yellow Submarine during the 2019/20 campaign, contributing four goals and four assists in the process. The report claims that Villarreal were quick to turn down Liverpool’s offer as they would want Chukwueze’s full release clause -€65m (£54.9m) – to be paid before sanctioning a move.
Call yourself a Liverpool expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?
However, it would be fair to say that a lot of the English club’s supporters are not sure that the offer actually arrived in the first place.
Another fan, though, claimed that Chukwueze would be the “perfect replacement” for Roberto Firmino, who is currently being linked with Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, one supporter insisted that the European champions do not need another wide player due to the options that head coach Jurgen Klopp can already call upon.
There were a whole host of differing views on the rumoured bid, with another fan claiming that Tottenham Hotspur would beat the Reds to the Nigerian’s signature.
Meanwhile, a number of Liverpool fans have been reacting to some interesting comments made by Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva.
